Decline in Complaints About Dust Pollution

In the first four months of 2026, complaints regarding dust pollution from Delhi Metro construction sites and station areas have dramatically decreased, plummeting from 640 in the same period last year to just 24 this year. A senior official from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) indicated that this reduction reflects the effectiveness of dust control measures, stringent monitoring, and a rapid complaint resolution system implemented at metro construction sites and stations.

Rising Complaints Over the Years

Data reveals that as metro expansion efforts accelerated in Delhi over recent years, complaints related to dust pollution consistently increased, with 945 complaints recorded in 2022, 1,378 in 2023, and 2,180 in 2024. However, a notable decline was observed in 2025, where the total number of complaints dropped to 764. The official noted that out of these, 640 complaints were received between January 1 and April 20.

Enhanced Monitoring and Inspections

In comparison, only 24 complaints were logged during the same timeframe in 2026, indicating a significant reduction in public grievances regarding dust pollution at DMRC sites. The official stated, 'To address such complaints and ensure compliance with pollution standards, DMRC has strengthened inspections and monitoring across its entire network.' In 2025, a total of 1,189 inspections were conducted, with 418 occurring between January 1 and April 20. For the same period in 2026, DMRC carried out 307 inspections.
