Significant Diplomatic Breakthrough in Middle East: Israel and Lebanon Extend Ceasefire

In a significant diplomatic move, President Trump has announced that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to extend their ceasefire for an additional three weeks. This decision follows high-level discussions in the Oval Office and could pave the way for future meetings between Israeli and Lebanese leaders. Both nations have expressed gratitude to Trump for his role in facilitating this agreement. However, Israel has called on Lebanon to disarm Hezbollah, which it views as a barrier to peace. The situation remains delicate, with Trump emphasizing the need for Iran to halt its funding to Hezbollah to ensure stability in the region. Historic Ceasefire Agreement

A major diplomatic achievement has been reached in the Middle East, aimed at resolving a long-standing conflict. President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to extend the current ceasefire for an additional three weeks. Following a high-level meeting in the Oval Office, Trump described this development as 'important and historic.' He noted that the decision was made after discussions between senior officials from both sides.

Potential Meetings Between Leaders

While addressing reporters at the White House, the 79-year-old Republican leader hinted that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Michel Aoun might meet in Washington in the coming weeks. Referring to them as 'great people,' Trump remarked that although they are neighbors, they have never met before.

He stated, 'We had a fantastic meeting with very senior officials from Lebanon and Israel, and I believe the President of Lebanon and the Prime Minister of Israel will be here in the coming weeks.'

Accompanied by Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump mentioned, 'They have agreed to a ceasefire for three more weeks. Let's see how it goes. We hope it will happen. While it may not be between them, we still need to consider Hezbollah.'

Gratitude Expressed by Both Nations

Both Israel and Lebanon expressed their gratitude to Trump for facilitating the ceasefire. Israel's ambassador to the U.S., Yechiel Leiter, stated that the two Middle Eastern nations can now formalize peace in the future.

Similarly, Lebanon's ambassador Nada Hamadeh Moawad thanked Trump, indicating that with his assistance, they could restore Lebanon to greatness, possibly referencing Trump's 'Make America Great Again' slogan.

Israel's Call to Disarm Hezbollah

Despite the extension of the ceasefire, Israel has urged Lebanon to disarm Hezbollah, labeling it a 'barrier' to peace between the two countries. Israel also expressed that Lebanon's future could be one of 'sovereignty, freedom, and liberation from Iranian control.'

Trump echoed this sentiment, stating that Iran must cease its funding to Hezbollah, which he deemed 'essential' for peace in the region.
