Significance of Dussehra: Rituals and Remedies for Prosperity

The festival is marked by vibrant celebrations symbolizing the victory of righteousness over evil. Interestingly, the ashes from the effigy of Ravana, which is burned during the festivities, are believed to hold auspicious properties. These ashes can be utilized in simple rituals that may enhance happiness and prosperity in one's home.

Effective Remedies Post-Ritual

According to Ujjain's Acharya Anand Bhardwaj, engaging in specific practices after the burning of Ravana can lead to financial benefits and help overcome adversities. The Vedic calendar indicates that this year's Dussehra will be celebrated on October 2nd, with the Ravana Dahan occurring during Pradosh Kaal, around sunset at 6:06 PM.

It is considered auspicious to take some ashes from the site of Ravana's burning and apply them to one's forehead, believed to aid in conquering enemies. Additionally, bringing home leftover wood from the Dahan and storing it in a safe place is thought to alleviate financial struggles.

Protective Measures with Ashes

Another recommended practice involves rotating the ashes around oneself and discarding them outside, which is said to ward off negative energies. Furthermore, tying the ashes in a red cloth and placing it at the main entrance of the home is believed to prevent the entry of negativity, fostering a peaceful and joyful environment for the family.
