Siddaramaiah's Strategic Meeting with Congress Leaders

Following his resignation from the position of Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, a prominent Congress leader, met with Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi at their residence on 10 Janpath on Friday morning, accompanied by his son, Yathindra. Officials have confirmed this meeting.

This gathering is considered significant as Siddaramaiah is expected to discuss his future strategy with the Congress leadership. He has already declined the offer for a Rajya Sabha seat.

Siddaramaiah has expressed his desire to remain in Karnataka and has shown no interest in a central role suggested by the party's high command. Sources indicate that he may take this opportunity to thank Sonia Gandhi for allowing him to lead the southern state after he joined Congress from the Janata Dal (Secular) in 2006.

Additionally, it is reported that Siddaramaiah might request positions for his son and loyal leaders in the new Karnataka cabinet, including the deputy chief minister role.

Further Discussions with Congress Leadership

After his meeting with the Gandhi family, Siddaramaiah is also set to discuss various matters with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. During the meeting with the Gandhi family, Congress General Secretary Randeep Surjewala was also present.

Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot has accepted Siddaramaiah's resignation from the chief minister's post.

According to sources, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar will hold separate discussions regarding the formation of the government with Congress General Secretary (Organization) K.C. Venugopal. There is a possibility that Shivakumar may become the Chief Minister of Karnataka.

Furthermore, it has been indicated that Congress will also work on reorganizing the party structure in Karnataka, with discussions expected to take place on Friday.
