Shubman Gill Prepares for Upcoming Match

Shubman Gill, the captain of India's ODI-Test team, engaged in practice sessions on Tuesday in preparation for Punjab's Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) match against Goa at the KL Saini Stadium. He had to sit out the previous game against Sikkim due to food poisoning but is expected to play against Goa before rejoining the Indian ODI squad for the series against New Zealand.

Gill's Injury Struggles

Over the past few months, Gill has faced several injury challenges. He played only three balls in the first Test against South Africa in Kolkata last year before being sidelined with a neck injury, which kept him out of the remainder of the series. Rishabh Pant took over the captaincy for the second Test. Additionally, he suffered a toe injury during the T20I series against South Africa last month, which led to his exclusion from the T20 World Cup squad. Fortunately, he has now recovered from food poisoning.

Punjab's Strong Performance Against Sikkim

Despite Gill's absence, Punjab showcased a dominant performance against Sikkim, winning the match by 10 wickets.

Arshdeep Singh's Impressive Bowling

Punjab's bowling unit, led by the formidable Arshdeep Singh, completely dismantled the Sikkim batting order. Arshdeep was the standout performer, taking five wickets for just 34 runs, helping to bowl Sikkim out for a mere 75 runs in 22.2 overs. His exceptional spell prevented any Sikkim batter from settling in, with only three players managing to score in double figures.

Prabhsimran Singh's Quick Chase

Chasing down the target was a straightforward task for Punjab, who reached it in just 6.2 overs. Prabhsimran Singh led the way with a rapid, unbeaten half-century, scoring 53 runs off only 26 balls.
