Shubman Gill and Harshit Rana Shine at BCCI Naman Awards 2026

On Sunday in New Delhi, Shubman Gill, the captain of India's ODI and Test teams, received the Polly Umrigar Award for Best International Cricketer - Men for the 2024-25 season during the esteemed BCCI Naman Awards 2026. Additionally, all-rounder Harshit Rana was honored with the Best International Debut - Men award. This recognition marks Gill's second time winning the Best International Cricketer award at the Naman Awards, having previously received it for the 2022-24 season.
Shubman Gill's Remarkable Year
Gill had an exceptional year in 2025, particularly in Test cricket. Leading India during their tour of England, he was the top run-scorer in the five-Test series, accumulating 754 runs in 10 innings with an impressive average of 75.40, including four centuries and a highest score of 269. Overall, he was the highest run-scorer globally in 2025, with 983 runs in nine matches at an average of 70.21. His contributions were vital in India's Champions Trophy 2025 campaign, where he scored an unbeaten 101 against Bangladesh in the opening match and finished the tournament with 188 runs at an average of 47, making him India's third-highest run-scorer.
Harshit Rana's Promising Debut
Harshit Rana earned the Best International Debut - Men award after making his Test debut in 2024, followed by his ODI debut in 2025 and T20I debut in 2026. He showcased his all-round skills, particularly in white-ball formats. So far, in 14 ODIs, he has taken 26 wickets at an average of 27.38 and scored 124 runs in seven innings at an average of 24.80. In nine T20Is, he has claimed nine wickets at an average of 33, with a highest score of 35. In his two Test matches, he has taken four wickets.
Domestic Cricket Achievements
The BCCI also recognized the Mumbai Cricket Association with the Best Performance in BCCI Domestic Tournaments award for the 2024-25 season, as they triumphed in the 2024-25 Irani Cup, Senior Women's T20 Trophy, 2024/25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and the 2025 Women's U23 One Day Trophy.
Lala Amarnath Award for Best All-Rounder
Ayush Mhatre from Mumbai received the Lala Amarnath Award for Best All-Rounder in Domestic Limited-Overs for the 2024-25 season, scoring 458 runs in the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy with an average of 65.42 and a strike rate of 135.50, while also taking seven wickets in seven matches.
