Shreyas Iyer and Aditya Tare Lead SOBO Mumbai Falcons to Thrilling Win
Iyer and Tare Shine in Falcons' Victory
In an exciting match at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, Shreyas Iyer and veteran wicketkeeper Aditya Tare propelled SOBO Mumbai Falcons to their inaugural victory in the Nuvama Private T20 Mumbai League 2026, defeating MSC Maratha Royals by three wickets.
Iyer, who entered as the Impact Player, continued the momentum set by the opening batsmen, scoring a smooth 30 runs off 24 balls, including two fours and two sixes. Tare, filling in as the opener, made a significant contribution with a quick-fire 42 runs from just 19 balls, while Ishan Mulchandani added 29 runs, forming a solid 57-run partnership.
The Falcons raced to 106 runs in just 12 overs, but Iyer's wicket sparked a sudden collapse, with the Royals taking four wickets for a mere 21 runs. As the pressure mounted and the required run rate increased, Gautam Waghela steadied the innings, finishing with an unbeaten 26 runs off 23 balls, leading the Falcons to victory with five balls remaining.
Jadhav's Efforts Fall Short for Royals
Earlier in the match, MSC Maratha Royals' Sahil Jadhav played a crucial role, scoring a resilient half-century despite the team's struggles. He hit five fours and three sixes in his 30-ball innings, accumulating 52 runs and keeping the scoreboard moving amidst frequent wickets.
The defending champions only reached the 100-run mark in the 14th over, with Chinmay Sutar contributing 23 runs. Yash Dicholkar's left-arm spin proved effective as he dismissed both Jadhav and Tushar Deshpande in quick succession, further derailing the Royals' innings. Although Arjun Dani managed to score 35 runs, the Royals ended their innings at 152/9, a total that fell short of the target.
