Tragic Shooting Outside Denver Nightclub

A shooting incident occurred shortly after midnight on Monday outside Ultra Lounge East in southeast Denver, resulting in one fatality and eight injuries, according to local police reports. Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas stated that the gunfire erupted on the outdoor patio and in the parking area of the nightclub located at 9755 E. Hampden Ave.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a man with a gunshot wound in the parking lot. He was promptly transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner will release his identity.

Eight additional individuals sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to various hospitals, either by emergency services or on their own. Initially, their injuries were reported as non-life-threatening; however, Chief Thomas later confirmed that all eight victims were in serious but stable condition.

Authorities suspect that at least two firearms were involved in the shooting, although no weapons were found at the scene. The violence reportedly originated from a dispute between two groups during an event in nearby Aurora earlier that day, which escalated into an after-party at Ultra Lounge East, leading to the gunfire just before 12:10 a.m.

Investigators are currently working to identify the suspects based on witness accounts. It remains uncertain if all the injured parties were directly involved in the initial confrontation or if some were innocent bystanders. Chief Thomas expressed concerns regarding the high number of attendees at the nightclub for a Sunday night and highlighted the issue of easy access to firearms, emphasizing that many individuals lack the necessary conflict resolution skills to avoid violence.

This incident marks the latest in a series of violent occurrences along East Hampden Avenue, prompting police to enhance patrols in response to multiple shootings and homicides reported in the area this year.
