Lawrence Bishnoi was a key figure in SOPU and became acquainted with several dangerous gangsters during his college years.

Goldy Barar, who was also a student at the college, became a close associate of Bishnoi. The Bambiha gang's social media post stated, "The shooting at Punjab University targeting SOPU leader Jasandeep was carried out by our gang members, Doni Bal and Shaganpreet. He was fortunate to escape, but not everyone is so lucky. Anyone who aligns with the Lawrence SOPU group will face dire consequences. Rest in peace, Sidhu Moosewala."
