Shocking Twist: Schoolgirls in Kashmir Fabricate Kidnapping Story to Skip Classes

Srinagar: In an unusual turn of events, two schoolgirls from Pulwama, Jammu & Kashmir, claimed they were abducted to avoid attending school, only to later admit the truth, according to police reports released on Thursday.

The police received a formal complaint on April 7 from Bilal Ahmad Ganaie, a resident of Ratnipora Pulwama, alleging that an unidentified driver of vehicle JK01AB-2069 had forcibly taken his daughter and her 10-year-old friend while they were en route to school around 9:30 a.m.

Following this complaint, an FIR (91/2025) was filed under section 137(2) BNS at the Pulwama police station, prompting an investigation. However, authorities soon discovered that the girls had fabricated the entire story.

During the investigation, both the girls and their parents provided statements in court, clarifying that no abduction had occurred and that they had walked to Nadoo from Ratnipora instead.

CCTV footage from the area was reviewed, revealing no evidence of a vehicle forcibly taking them, confirming that the girls had concocted the tale to skip school, a fact supported by their parents.

The police urged parents to educate their children about the seriousness of such allegations, emphasizing that false claims of kidnapping can lead to severe consequences for innocent individuals.

This incident marks a rare case in Kashmir, where schoolgirls and their parents wrongly accused an innocent driver of kidnapping while the girls were simply out for a walk after skipping classes.
