Tragic Incident in Sundergarh District

Rourkela: In a shocking turn of events, a 22-year-old man reportedly murdered his father in Odisha's Sundergarh district on Monday, seeking vengeance for his mother's death, according to police reports.

The lifeless body of Kranti Kumar Barma, aged 55, was discovered in a field located in Bhalupatra village within the Brahmani Tarang police jurisdiction early in the morning.

His son, Bishnu, admitted to the crime, expressing no regret for his actions, as he sought retribution for his mother's murder, police stated.

Barma had been released from prison in December after serving time for the murder of his wife. Authorities noted that Bishnu was a young child when he witnessed his father's violent act.

Community members described Barma as aggressive, often mistreating women in the village and physically abusing his son without provocation.

An investigation is currently ongoing, and the deceased's body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
