Intriguing Case of Betrayal in South Delhi

New Delhi: In a bizarre incident, a woman reportedly enlisted the help of two men to snatch her husband's phone in the Sultanpur area of South Delhi. The motive? To erase intimate photographs with her lover that were saved on the device, according to police officials on Friday.

The two accomplices allegedly executed the phone snatching and have been on the run since the incident occurred on June 19.

One of the suspects, identified as Ankit Gahlot (27), was apprehended and revealed to the police that the woman was involved with another man, and her husband had compromising images on his phone, stated Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan.

"She planned the snatching to access and delete the photos," he explained.

The woman provided the men with details about her husband's daily commute and work schedule. On the day of the incident, they reportedly snatched the phone and escaped.

The police received a call regarding the mobile theft near the Old UK Paint Factory on Main Market Road in Sultanpur.

"The victim informed the police that two masked individuals on a scooter had stolen his phone and fled the scene," the DCP noted.

The pillion rider was seen wearing a blue T-shirt, and an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) scan from Vasant Kunj helped trace the scooter's registration number. It was discovered that the scooter had been rented for a single day from Daryaganj.

Using the rental agreement and Aadhaar-linked information, authorities tracked the suspects to Balotra in Rajasthan's Barmer district.

Following the crime, the duo checked into a hotel in Old Delhi to avoid capture, the DCP added.

The woman has been implicated in the case, and efforts are underway to apprehend another accomplice who remains at large, according to police.
