Shocking Murder Plot Unveiled in Latur: Man Fakes Death to Clear Debt
A Disturbing Incident in Latur
A startling case has emerged from Latur, Maharashtra, where an individual fabricated his own death to settle debts. In a shocking twist, he even committed murder to make the ruse appear credible. The suspect was apprehended after attempting to communicate with his girlfriend, leading police to investigate the matter further. The incident reportedly took place on a Sunday.
Discovery of the Charred Body
According to reports, authorities received information about a completely charred body found in a burnt car in the Ausa taluka of Latur. Upon investigation, police traced the vehicle's owner, who had lent it to a relative identified as Ganesh Chavan, a bank recovery agent.
Unraveling the Mystery
When police sought Chavan, they learned he had not returned home and his phone was switched off. Initially, it was believed that the deceased was Chavan himself, but further inquiries revealed inconsistencies. By Monday, police suspected that not everything was as it seemed and began gathering more information about Chavan, discovering he was involved with a woman.
Chat Reveals the Truth
As reported by a media channel, Latur's Superintendent of Police, Amol Tambe, stated, 'During questioning of the woman, we found out that Chavan was messaging her after the incident, using a different number.' This led the police to realize that the person they thought was dead was actually alive. They traced the other number, which led them to Kolhapur and Vijayadurg, where Chavan was taken into custody.
The Identity of the Victim
On Saturday, Chavan had given a lift to a man named Govind Yadav from Tuljapur T Junction. Reports suggest that Yadav was intoxicated at the time, which Chavan exploited. According to police, Chavan fed the inebriated Yadav, laid him down in the car, and then set the vehicle ablaze with Yadav in the driver's seat before fleeing the scene.
Motive Behind the Murder
During interrogation, police discovered that Chavan had taken out an insurance policy worth 1 crore rupees and aimed to eliminate his home loan. He plotted the murder to claim the insurance money. Authorities are now investigating whether Chavan acted alone or had accomplices.
