Shocking Murder of Twin Daughters in Kanpur: New Revelations Emerge
New Developments in the Kanpur Twin Murder Case
Kanpur. A disturbing new twist has emerged in the case of the twin daughters' murder in Kanpur. The friendship with a woman from Chandigarh reportedly led to domestic strife. The couple's bedrooms became completely separate, and the children were informally divided between them.
Shocking details are surfacing regarding the murder of the twin sisters in Trimurti Apartments, Kidwai Nagar, Kanpur. Police investigations reveal that the father, who is the prime suspect, had been in a long-standing dispute with the mother. Although they lived under the same roof, their rooms were distinct.
The primary reason for this discord appears to be the father's close relationship with a woman from Chandigarh. However, the exact motive behind the murder remains unclear. According to his wife, Reshma, the accused, Shashiranjan, had traveled to Chandigarh for work during the pandemic.
During his time there, he developed a friendship with a woman, which gradually deepened. He began frequently traveling to Chandigarh, often staying for several days under the pretext of work, which escalated tensions at home.
This led to numerous disputes between the couple, ultimately deteriorating their family environment. Their bedrooms became entirely separate, and the children were informally divided between them.
Police are currently examining the suspect's mobile phone and call records to determine the depth of his connection with the woman from Chandigarh and her potential involvement in the conflict.
Restrictions on the Children
According to Reshma and neighbors, the father was extremely strict with his daughters. While it appeared to be care from the outside, his behavior is now under scrutiny following the incident.
The home that once echoed with the laughter of the twin sisters is now silent. They were not allowed to play with other children in the apartment complex. If they attempted to go outside or engage in conversations, they faced reprimands.
In a tragic turn of events, Shashiranjan brutally murdered his 11-year-old twin daughters, Riddhi and Siddhi, late Saturday night. He strangled each daughter one by one and, to ensure they could not escape, struck them with a hammer after administering a sedative. The entire incident was captured on the CCTV footage installed in the room.
After the murder, the suspect himself called the police control room to report the crime. When the police arrived, they found the bloodied bodies of the children on the bedroom floor. The mother, Reshma, was awakened from sleep in another room with their six-year-old son, Rudrav, and was devastated upon learning of the tragedy.
Suspect Remains Silent on Motive
The police have arrested the suspect, but he has not disclosed the reason for the murders. The apartment is owned by Vivek Gupta, a bank employee from Lucknow, who had rented it to Shashiranjan, originally from Gaya, Bihar, for ₹19,000 per month. Shashiranjan works as a sales manager for a pharmaceutical company in Chandigarh and had a love marriage with Reshma in 2014 at a temple.
The twin daughters were in the fifth grade, and their brother, Rudrav, is six years old. At 4:32 AM, Shashiranjan called the police control room to report the murder of his daughters.
Evidence Collected
When the police arrived, they found the suspect sitting on the floor near the bodies. Forensic teams recovered a blood-stained hammer and a chopper from the scene. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination.
The entire incident was recorded by four CCTV cameras installed in the flat, excluding the bedroom and bathroom used by the wife. Inspector Bahadur Singh stated that on Saturday night at 11 PM, Shashiranjan had dinner with his wife, daughters, and son. Afterward, they all watched television together.
When Shashiranjan asked them to turn off the TV, the family ignored him, which led to him threatening to beat them in a fit of rage. Following this, the daughters went to sleep in their father's room, while Reshma and Rudrav went to their own room.
Between 1:50 AM and 3:35 AM, Shashiranjan brutally murdered his daughters, first killing Siddhi and then Riddhi. The police discovered the entire incident recorded on the CCTV cameras. It is believed that the suspect had planned the murder for several days, as he had purchased the chopper just five days prior.
