His body was discovered the following morning near his uncle's house. The fatal shot was fired near his ear, and his body was wrapped in a cloth. Initially, his wife Lalita claimed that a local man had threatened Rishi over a mobile phone theft suspicion, leading to his murder.

Rishi was the eldest of three brothers and worked as a truck driver. His parents had passed away earlier, and he had been married for two years.
