A Gripping Tale of Betrayal

Shocking Murder Case Unveils Betrayal and Deceit in Madhya Pradesh

A shocking murder case that resembles a cinematic thriller has unfolded in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district, revealing hidden betrayal, humiliation, and a chilling conspiracy within a family. Initially reported as a robbery gone wrong, the murder of a spice trader is now believed to be orchestrated by his wife and her lover. This tragic incident occurred on the night of April 7.

Devkrishna Purohit, aged 28, was discovered dead in his home, with multiple stab wounds inflicted by a sharp weapon. His wife, Priyanka Purohit, initially claimed that unknown robbers had broken in, stealing valuables worth 3.5 lakh rupees, and killed Devkrishna when he resisted. However, as the police investigation progressed, the narrative began to unravel.

“You’re dark-skinned; you don’t deserve me,”

Family members revealed that Devkrishna and Priyanka's marriage had been troubled for some time. Devkrishna's sister, Jyoti, accused Priyanka, 25, of frequently humiliating her husband, often stating, “You’re dark-skinned; you don’t deserve me; I need someone better.”

According to police, Priyanka was involved in an illicit relationship with 32-year-old Kamlesh Purohit from Rajgarh. They conspired that Devkrishna was an obstacle in their relationship and decided he needed to be eliminated.

Contract Killer Hired for 1 Lakh Rupees

Kamlesh enlisted the help of his accomplice, Surendra Bhati, and they agreed on a payment of 1 lakh rupees for the murder, with half the amount (50,000) paid upfront.

On the night of the murder, the front door was intentionally left open. Surendra entered and attacked the sleeping Devkrishna.

To make it appear as a robbery, the room was ransacked, and some valuables were reported missing.

Priyanka pretended to be a victim, screaming for help after the assailant fled, claiming she had been tied up. However, this ruse did not last long.

Police grew suspicious due to Priyanka's inconsistent statements. During a search of the house, they found the very jewelry she claimed had been stolen. Mobile phone records and call details revealed the connection between Priyanka and Kamlesh, including calls made around the time of the murder.

Eventually, during extensive questioning, Priyanka broke down and confessed to the entire plot.

Both Priyanka and Kamlesh Purohit have been arrested, while hitman Surendra Bhati remains at large. The police are currently searching for him and awaiting forensic reports to determine if any drugs were administered before the murder.

Family in Shock

This horrific incident has left the victim's family in deep shock. Devkrishna's mother, Khinchi Bai, has demanded the harshest punishment for the culprits, stating, “All the accused should be hanged. I seek only justice, nothing more.”

Sister Jyoti shared more alarming details about Priyanka's behavior, claiming, “She constantly fought with my brother, was always on her phone, and humiliated him. I suspected her of having an affair since 2020.”

She added, “She often said, ‘You’re dark-skinned; you don’t deserve me.’ My brother endured everything to maintain family peace.”

Jyoti also alleged that Priyanka frequently disappeared for long periods, neglected household chores, and tried to keep Devkrishna away from his mother to prevent them from complaining about her behavior.

The police now believe that what appeared to be a sudden act of violence was, in fact, the culmination of years of hatred, deceit, and an illicit affair that ultimately led to a bloody conspiracy.
