Shocking Murder Case: Tamil Nadu Police Capture Suspects Linked to Dismembered Body Found on Train

Major Arrests in Gruesome Murder Investigation

Chennai/Bhubaneswar: In a significant development, Tamil Nadu law enforcement has apprehended the main suspects involved in the horrific murder and dismemberment of a 38-year-old woman. The victim's body parts were discovered inside a suitcase on a train earlier this month.

The suspects, identified as Manik Uddin Laskar, 22, from Cachar district in Assam, and his wife Bhagabati Majhi from Kendujhar district in Odisha, were captured in Kashimpur, located in Jiribam district of Manipur. This followed an extensive multi-state search operation, as reported by police sources on Sunday.

The shocking crime was uncovered on August 5 when passengers on the Tamil Nadu Express detected a foul smell coming from an abandoned red suitcase in an unreserved compartment after the train arrived at Agra station.

Upon inspection by Government Railway Police (GRP) officers, the gruesome discovery of a headless, dismembered body of an unidentified woman was made.

Further investigations and forensic examinations later confirmed the victim's identity as Hayathun Nisha, aged 38, originally from Odisha.

Following the disposal of the body, the couple went into hiding, prompting a nationwide search by specialized police teams.
