Shocking Murder Case in Bagpat: BJP Leader Arrested

Murder Investigation Unfolds

In Bagpat, a startling revelation has emerged regarding the murders of Vikrant, a city mission manager, and his girlfriend, Rakhi Kashyap. The police have apprehended BJP leader Sudharas, who was hiding in his home in Baraut. A blood-stained weapon used in Rakhi's murder was recovered from his office.

Details of the Arrest

Sudharas Chauhan, a former city president of the BJP Youth Front, was arrested by Bagpat police on Friday. He had been hiding at his residence in Chauhan Enclave. Following his lead, the police seized the blood-stained weapon from his office on Baraut Road and confiscated the DVR from the CCTV cameras.

The Love Affair and Its Tragic End

The police disclosed that Vikrant, a resident of Govindpur in Prayagraj, and Rakhi Kashyap from Arjunpuram were in a romantic relationship and were planning to marry. On the night of April 15, a party was held at Rakhi's house to celebrate their engagement, attended by Sudharas and his accomplice Kapil Chauhan.

During the party, an argument broke out, leading Rakhi to shoot Vikrant in the thigh with her licensed pistol. They then transported Vikrant to Badgaon in Saharanpur, where they struck him with a stone and disposed of his body in a canal.

The Aftermath of the Crime

After Vikrant was reported missing, the police began questioning Rakhi. Fearing that Sudharas would be implicated, he, along with Kapil, took Rakhi to a farmhouse in Rajapur Naogaon, Saharanpur, where they murdered her by slitting her throat and stabbing her.

Kapil confessed to the police about the murder after being apprehended on Thursday. Following this, both Bagpat and Saharanpur police intensified their search for Sudharas.

Police Investigation and Arrest

On Friday afternoon, police received a tip-off about Sudharas being at his home in Baraut, leading to his arrest. The police had been investigating the case with multiple teams from both districts, focusing on Sudharas's call records, which revealed numerous contacts made shortly before the incident.

Despite his attempts to evade capture by seeking refuge with acquaintances in Ghaziabad and Haryana, he ultimately returned home, where he was arrested just minutes after the police arrived.

Background of Sudharas Chauhan

Sudharas Chauhan has been a member of the BJP for several years, serving as the city president of the BJP Youth Front in 2020. He was replaced a year later and had not been active in the party since. In 2021, he was appointed as the general secretary of the Bhakiyu Bhanu.
