In a disturbing event that unfolded in Juhu Village, Vashi, Navi Mumbai, a man is accused of murdering his mother in a brutal manner. The incident occurred on the evening of August 9, when Mahesh Ratnakar Kadam, aged 42, allegedly strangled his 65-year-old mother, Manda Ratnakar Kadam, and violently struck her head against the floor.
The local community is in shock following this horrific act. According to Senior Police Inspector Shashikant Chandekar, the suspect had a long-standing grudge against his mother, stemming from her refusal to allow his wife to live with them.
Mahesh reportedly felt that his mother favored his sister Rupali Devlekar's family over his own. In a fit of rage fueled by this family conflict, he committed the act of violence that led to her immediate death.
After the crime, a complaint was lodged by Manda's son-in-law, Mangesh Kashinath Devlekar, prompting the Vashi Police to take swift action. Mahesh Kadam was arrested and is currently in police custody until August 13 as investigations continue.
Witnesses reported that Mahesh remained at the scene post-incident, allegedly screaming, which alerted neighbors who then contacted the authorities. The police arrived promptly to secure the area and recover Manda Kadam's body.
"Upon receiving the report, we acted quickly and apprehended the suspect. He has been charged under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita," stated Inspector Chandekar.
This tragic case echoes a similar incident from July 29, where a 60-year-old woman was reportedly killed by her son in south Delhi after she denied him money for alcohol. The accused, Amod Pandit, was taken into custody following the violent altercation.
