Karanjia: In a harrowing incident reported on Tuesday night, a woman was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped by four individuals at a roadside eatery within the jurisdiction of Mayurbhanj district, according to police sources on Wednesday. Following a complaint filed by the victim's family, authorities have initiated a case (219/25) and have detained one suspect, while three others remain at large.

The victim was reportedly on her way back to her maternal uncle's residence after visiting a temple around 4:30 PM when she was targeted by the assailants on a motorcycle. They forcibly took her to a nearby dhaba where they took turns assaulting her. After managing to escape, the woman returned home and recounted her traumatic experience to her family. Her relatives promptly reported the incident to the Karanjia police station at 2:30 AM the following day. This incident follows closely on the heels of another alleged gang-rape involving a college student at Gopalpur sea beach in Ganjam district, occurring just ten days prior.
