Shocking Incident in Rourkela: Rape Accused Injures Himself in Escape Attempt

Rourkela: A man accused of raping an 8-year-old girl suffered severe injuries after attempting to flee by jumping from a building's terrace on Sunday evening, within the jurisdiction of Plant Site police.
The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Md. Saddam Hussain, resides in the old RDA building on Mahatab Road. He reportedly broke his legs and incurred serious injuries to his waist. Local residents and police apprehended him and transported him to Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) for medical care.
Zone-2 DSP Amarendra Sandha stated that legal action will be initiated against him once he recovers from his injuries.
Following a complaint lodged by the victim's family on Monday, police initiated an investigation. According to the DSP, the girl was receiving tuition from the accused's sister when the incident occurred.
The assault took place when the minor visited the accused's home on Sunday, but her tutor was absent. Taking advantage of her solitude, the accused allegedly assaulted her. Upon hearing the girl's cries, neighbors rushed to the scene, prompting the accused to leap from the terrace in an attempt to escape.
Police arrived shortly after and detained the suspect.
