Disturbing Assault on IT Worker in Pune

Pune: A 22-year-old woman working in the IT sector was assaulted by an individual masquerading as a delivery person. The perpetrator ominously warned her via text that he had taken her pictures and would return if she reported the incident, according to police reports released on Thursday.

The shocking event unfolded around 7:30 PM on Wednesday in the Kondhwa locality. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Rajkumar Shinde stated that the assailant not only attacked the victim but also sent her a threatening message, indicating he would share her images online if she spoke out.

At the time of the incident, the woman was home alone, as her brother was away. The suspect arrived at her residence with a counterfeit delivery package, claiming it contained important bank documents. After requesting a pen for her signature, he forced his way inside as she turned to grab it and locked the door behind him.

DCP Shinde mentioned, "The victim has no recollection of the events that followed. She regained consciousness around 8:30 PM." After regaining her senses, she contacted her family, who subsequently notified the authorities.

Investigators suspect that the attacker may have used a substance to incapacitate her, and forensic tests are underway to determine if a sedative spray was involved.

In a particularly unsettling detail, the assailant took a selfie on the victim's phone, capturing her back and part of his face before escaping. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the building and are in the process of creating a sketch of the suspect.

A case has been filed under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including 64 (rape), 77 (voyeurism), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation). The victim has undergone a medical examination, and the investigation is still in progress.
