In 2023, a troubling incident emerged from a village in the Bilsand area of Pilibhit district, Uttar Pradesh, raising significant local concern. This case involved a widow and her brother-in-law, leading to a police complaint.

The woman reported that her husband had passed away some time ago, and she lived with her daughter. On a Wednesday afternoon, while she was bathing in the bathroom, her brother-in-law allegedly climbed over the wall and entered the house. According to her complaint, he entered the bathroom with ill intentions, assaulted her, and attempted to strangle her with her dupatta when she resisted.

At that moment, the woman's daughter returned home from school, prompting the accused to flee the scene, but not before threatening her life. The woman claimed that when she attempted to report the incident to the police, her father-in-law intervened, trying to suppress the matter by assuring her that it would not happen again.

The complaint further alleged that when the woman refused to settle the issue, both her father-in-law and brother-in-law physically assaulted her and also attacked her daughter when she tried to intervene. The two men managed to escape when the commotion attracted attention.
