Disturbing Events Unfold in Odisha

A shocking incident has emerged from Odisha, where humanity seems to have been put to shame. On Monday, police in Ganjam district reported that two Dalits were assaulted, had their hair forcibly cut, and were made to crawl on their knees and eat cattle feed, all under the suspicion of being cattle smugglers. This incident took place on Sunday in the village of Jahada, located within the jurisdiction of the Dharakote police station.


Public Outrage Following Viral Video

The alleged video of the incident has gone viral, sparking widespread outrage in both political and social circles. However, the authenticity of this video has not been verified. According to police reports, the victims, Babulal Nayak (54) and Bulu Nayak (42), were transporting two cows and a calf in an auto rickshaw from Harior to their village when they were intercepted by a group of cow protectors in Khari Gumma, who accused them of smuggling.


Brutal Treatment of Dalits

The police further revealed that the mob allegedly demanded ₹30,000 from the victims. When they refused, they were subjected to violence and humiliation. A police officer stated, 'They were taken to a salon where half of their heads were shaved.' The officer added, 'Afterward, they were forced to crawl for over a kilometer, eat cattle feed, and drink water from a drain.' Suvendu Kumar Patra, the Superintendent of Police in Ganjam, confirmed that a case has been registered and at least six individuals have been detained in connection with the incident.
