Tragic Attack in Kandivali

A horrifying incident has emerged from Mumbai, where screams echoed in Kandivali as a 42-year-old unemployed man, struggling with alcoholism, attacked his 14-year-old daughter with a blade early in the morning. The young girl was peacefully sleeping in her room, unaware of the impending danger.

Little did she know that the hands that had cradled her since childhood were now poised to take her breath away. Startled by the sudden assault, she screamed in pain. Hearing her cries, her mother, Rajshree, rushed to help, only to find herself targeted as well. The accused, Hanumant Sonawale, stabbed his wife in the abdomen with the same blade.

Injuries Sustained by the Minor

Both mother and daughter were rushed to the hospital, covered in blood. The girl required five stitches on her neck, while her mother is also receiving treatment. According to police reports, Hanumant suspected his wife of infidelity, leading to a heated argument shortly before the attack. Rajshree was contemplating divorce and seeking legal advice, which enraged Hanumant, prompting him to first assault his daughter and then his wife.

The accused had a history of domestic violence, frequently beating his wife and questioning her character. Police apprehended Hanumant Sonawale at the scene and have filed charges against him for attempted murder and domestic violence. While the condition of the mother and daughter is reported to be stable, this brutal attack by a father on his own child has left the entire community in shock.
