Shocking Incident in Ganjam: Teacher's Harrowing Encounter with AYUSH Assistant

Berhampur: A 29-year-old man was apprehended by Baidyanathpur police on Tuesday for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a 27-year-old female teacher in Ganjam district.
The suspect, identified as Jeevan Mishra, is a local resident and an AYUSH assistant stationed in Ralab village, located within the Hinjilicut block.
According to a statement from Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M, the arrest followed a complaint lodged by the victim at the Baidyanathpur police station.
Both the victim and the accused underwent medical examinations. A case numbered 370/25 has been filed, and the accused has been presented in court. Additionally, the police seized the mobile phone and clothing of both individuals for forensic analysis at the state forensic science laboratory in Rashulgarh, Bhubaneswar. The call records detailing interactions between the accused and the victim will also be scrutinized.
Authorities revealed that the accused and the teacher connected through Instagram, leading to a relationship. The woman, who holds a postgraduate degree in Sanskrit, was recently hired as a contractual teacher at a private institution. She had sought Mishra's assistance in finding accommodation near her workplace and purchasing some items. Mishra took her to Bada Bazaar for shopping and later to his aunt's residence, where he attempted to assault her. He allegedly promised to marry her when she resisted his advances, the SP noted.
