Shocking Incident in Balasore: Youth Arrested for Abducting and Assaulting Class-9 Girl

Balasore: Authorities in Odisha have detained a 26-year-old man for the alleged abduction and sexual assault of a ninth-grade girl in Balasore district, as reported on Monday.

The police revealed that the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon while the girl was cycling home after her tuition classes.

The suspect, hailing from Antara village, reportedly intercepted the girl and forcibly took her to a secluded area near the Barada Ranital canal, where the assault took place.

Upon learning of the situation, local residents apprehended the accused, restrained him with a rope, assaulted him, and set his motorcycle ablaze.

A police team quickly arrived at the scene, arrested the suspect, and transported the victim to Simulia hospital for treatment.

Inspector Shraban Kumar Maharana of the Simulia police station stated, "Following a complaint from the girl's mother, the suspect has been taken into custody and will be presented in court after undergoing a medical examination."

The girl's condition is reported to be stable, according to officials.
