Shocking Incident at Jharkhand School: 14-Year-Old Student Found Pregnant
Disturbing Discovery at Scheduled Caste Girls' School
A shocking case has emerged from the Scheduled Caste Residential Girls’ School in the Hunterganj block of Chatra district, Jharkhand. A 14-year-old girl, who was living in the school hostel and enrolled in Class III, was discovered to be pregnant during a routine medical check-up.
Allegations have surfaced that the headmaster of the school was responsible for the assault on the student. This revelation has sparked outrage and fear among the students and the local community.
Upon learning of the incident, the victim's family arrived at the school and staged a protest, accusing the management of serious security failures. In response to the gravity of the situation, law enforcement acted quickly, apprehending the headmaster.
To manage the escalating tension, Prabhat Kumar, the officer in charge of Hunterganj Police Station, arrived with additional police personnel to calm the distressed villagers. The police escorted both the victim and the accused, Shankar Prasad, to the police station for extensive questioning alongside senior officials.
Recognizing the sensitivity of the case, Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Shree took immediate action. A comprehensive team, including AC Arvind Kumar, SDO Mohammad Jahur Alam, the Women Police Station in-charge, and REO Ambuja Raj, was assembled to document the victim's statement. Additionally, a high-level inquiry committee has been established to investigate the matter thoroughly.
Local leaders have voiced their concerns, with Zila Parishad Chairperson Mamta Kumari condemning the incident as atrocious. She plans to meet with the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police to advocate for justice for the victim and insists on the harshest penalties for those responsible.
Nawadih Mukhiya and Basanti Panna have also called for a fair and scientific investigation to ensure that the true perpetrator is held accountable and that no innocent individuals are wrongfully accused.
The accused headmaster, Shankar Prasad, has been arrested, and arrangements are being made for his judicial custody. Meanwhile, the victim is receiving essential medical treatment and counseling.
