Mandla News: The bond between brothers is often seen as a symbol of trust and protection, but a recent incident in Madhya Pradesh's Mandla has shattered this notion. In a horrifying act, a brother turned against his own sibling, committing a crime that is hard to fathom. In a fit of rage over a personal dispute, the elder brother brutally murdered his younger sibling while he slept, using an axe, and then dismembered the body into nine pieces, hiding them in a septic tank behind their home. For six days, the perpetrator lived in peace, oblivious to the stench that would eventually reveal his gruesome secret.
Foul Odor Leads to Discovery
According to reports, the family of the victim, Ashish Sahu, filed a missing person report on April 15 after searching for him extensively. On April 17, the victim's father, Munna Lal Sahu, noticed a strong odor emanating from the septic tank behind their house. Upon investigation by the police, the shocking sight of body parts wrapped in bags and cloth was uncovered. The remains were identified as those of Ashish.
Evidence Tampering and Motive
Initial investigations and testimonies from locals pointed towards the elder brother, Ghanshyam Sahu, as the prime suspect. It is reported that the brothers had been embroiled in a long-standing feud, which escalated after Ashish purchased a new tractor for work. Allegations suggest that Ghanshyam attacked Ashish with a sharp weapon while he was asleep, subsequently dismembering the body to conceal evidence and disposing of it in the septic tank.
A Mysterious Disappearance
This murder case has reopened an old wound for the family, as they revealed that the brothers' mother has been missing since 2019 under mysterious circumstances. Following Ashish's brutal murder, the police are now investigating whether there is a connection between her disappearance and this horrific crime.
Community in Shock
Neighbors have expressed their disbelief over the incident. One neighbor, Govind, stated that the entire village is in shock, struggling to find words to describe the horror. Ashish was known to be a straightforward individual who kept to himself, and while there were disputes with his elder brother, no one expected such a heinous act. Another neighbor, Kailash Patel, mentioned that the police arrived after the foul smell was reported, and Ashish had been missing since the 11th. Given the family's history, there are suspicions that the mother’s disappearance may also be linked to this case, and calls for thorough investigations are growing.

Additional SP Shiv Kumar Verma stated that they received information about suspicious items in the septic tank, leading to the discovery of Ashish's dismembered body. The forensic team is currently collecting evidence, and Ghanshyam has been taken into custody for questioning. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working diligently to uncover the full details of this tragic event.
