Food Safety Concerns Emerge After Students Fall Ill

In a distressing incident in Chandrapur, Maharashtra, 31 students were hospitalized after consuming contaminated food at Shri Ambru Naik Secondary Ashram School on Tuesday. Reports indicate that a lizard fell into the food during preparation, which went unnoticed by the staff.

The meal was served around 2:30 PM, and shortly after eating, many students began experiencing symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and dizziness. They were promptly taken to the Primary Health Centre in Jivti for initial treatment.

Due to insufficient medical facilities at the local health center, the students were transferred to the Sub-District Rural Hospital in Rajura, where they are currently receiving care. Fortunately, medical officials report that all students are in stable condition and under close observation.

This incident has ignited outrage among parents and the local community, who are demanding accountability from the school administration for what they perceive as negligence that endangered the children's lives.

Calls for a thorough investigation into the incident have been made, with parents insisting on strict action against those responsible, including the staff and school administrators.

The Education Department and local police are currently conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the food contamination and to identify any lapses in safety protocols.

Concerns are also being raised about the overall quality and safety of meals provided to students at the Ashram School. This incident follows a similar case in Madhya Pradesh, where over 30 children fell ill after a mid-day meal.
