The couple, Anjali and Pareshbhai Lamba, married in 2019. Recently, they had a dispute at Anjali's parental home in Rajpipla, prompting her to return to her parents' house. Pareshbhai attempted to bring her back, but tensions escalated.

On the evening of October 17, Pareshbhai, accompanied by his friend Jignesh Shrimali, rode to Narol to confront his mother-in-law, Dinaben Vegda, demanding to know why she wouldn't send his wife back. This confrontation quickly turned violent.

In a fit of rage, Paresh allegedly drew a weapon to attack his mother-in-law. In response, Dinaben swiftly picked up a brick and struck him on the head. Following the incident, Anjali filed a murder complaint against her mother at the Narol police station. Dinaben also lodged a complaint against Paresh for assault and threats against her daughter.
