Shocking Exploitation Case Uncovered in Amaravati Apartment
Disturbing Truth Revealed in Amaravati
A horrifying reality has emerged from a seemingly ordinary flat in Amaravati, Maharashtra. Located on the third floor of a residential building in the Katora Naka area, this flat has become a hub for the exploitation of nearly 200 minors and the production of obscene videos. Neighbors now refer to it as a 'den of evils.'
Neighbors Witness Suspicious Activity
Residents have reported that suspicious activities have been ongoing in the flat for months. Shrikant Makkehswar, who lives on the second floor, noted that young women, typically around 18 to 19 years old, frequently visited and stayed late into the night. Many of these girls concealed their identities with burqas or scarves, making it difficult for neighbors to recognize them.
Despite multiple complaints to the flat's owner regarding these dubious activities, residents claim their concerns were ignored. Now, there are calls for action against the owner for her inaction.
Late-Night Activity Raises Alarms
Residents recall that at odd hours, a large number of young men and women were seen entering and exiting the flat. Shrikant Makkehswar expressed that it was impossible to overlook such activities.
He shared with a media outlet, "The girls, often around 18-19 years old, would come here and stay until late. We became suspicious and informed the flat owner, but she dismissed our concerns."
According to Makkehswar, many visitors disguised their faces, complicating identification for neighbors. This secrecy, coupled with the increasing foot traffic, deepened suspicions of illegal activities occurring inside.
Owner Ignored Warnings
Despite numerous complaints from residents, the flat owner took no action, which has fueled anger among the building's occupants.
Makkehswar accused the owner of enabling the perpetrators to continue their activities unchecked. He stated, "Those involved in such crimes should face severe punishment. The flat owner should also be held accountable for her inaction after repeated complaints. She might be complicit in this as well."
Police Seal the Crime Scene
A significant turn of events occurred when police arrived at the flat recently. However, a man named Human, who was residing there, reportedly fled and locked the place before their arrival.
The police subsequently cordoned off the flat, deeming it a crucial crime scene where obscene videos were allegedly produced. Investigators believe this apartment played a central role in the creation and distribution of illegal content.
Eight Arrested in Connection with the Case
So far, eight individuals have been arrested in this case, which is linked to the dissemination of obscene video clips and images of minors on social media platforms.
The Superintendent of Police for Amaravati (Rural), Vishal Anand, stated that the investigation began after such videos surfaced online on April 11. Based on the information gathered, police arrested Ayan on April 13, who has been remanded to police custody until April 21.
According to police, Ayan allegedly recorded the videos and shared them with his associate Ujair Iqbal Khan, who then distributed them further. Other suspects involved in the distribution network have also been identified and apprehended.
Investigation into the Scale of Exploitation Continues
While police have confirmed the identification of eight victims, local claims suggest the scale of exploitation could be much larger. Allegations indicate that approximately 180 girls may have been targeted, with over 350 videos recorded.
This case has been registered under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the Information Technology Act. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising 10 officers and 35 personnel has been formed to investigate the matter.
Appeal for Victims to Come Forward
The police have urged victims and their families to come forward and provide their statements. They have assured complete confidentiality and safety for those who do.
Officials stated that if victims feel uncomfortable visiting the police station, plainclothes officers will meet them at a location of their choice.
