In the Teli Mohalla area of the Sadar Bazaar, a retired education department employee kept his daughter's corpse at home for five months after her death, without anyone knowing. The Gruesome Discovery

The case came to light when the relatives of the accused, Uday Bhanu, forced open the door of his house, which had been locked for nearly six months. What they found inside was shocking; the home had transformed into a 'haunted house' filled with filth, decaying items, and a foul odor. In one room, they discovered the skeleton of the young woman, prompting them to alert the police. During the investigation, the accused admitted that the house had not been cleaned for two years, and they had grown accustomed to living in such squalor.

Circumstances Surrounding the Death

During questioning, Uday Bhanu revealed that his daughter, Priyanka, had not left the house since October 2025 and died in November. Due to superstition and mental instability, he did not perform her last rites. Instead, he attempted to conceal the odor by spraying perfume on the body. Following this, he locked the house and traveled to Haridwar and Dehradun. Whenever relatives inquired about Priyanka, he fabricated stories about her ongoing treatment.

Investigations revealed that Uday Bhanu's mental decline began after his wife's suicide in 2013. He suspected that his relatives had used black magic to take her away from him. This fear led him to isolate himself and Priyanka from the outside world. When Priyanka fell ill in July 2025, instead of seeking medical help, he became engrossed in superstitious practices, which worsened her condition.

Fear of Funeral Expenses

Interestingly, Uday Bhanu had traveled to Haridwar to inquire about the funeral process from priests. When he learned that it would cost around 8,000 rupees, he returned home. However, he could not muster the courage to confront the decaying body of his daughter and continued to flee from the reality.

The police have taken Priyanka's remains into custody and sent them for an autopsy. It remains unclear whether her death was due to natural causes or if there was foul play involved.
