Shocking Crime in Pune: 65-Year-Old Man Accused of Murdering Four-Year-Old Girl
Tragic Incident in Pune's Bhor Taluka
Pune: A horrifying incident has unfolded in the Bhor Taluka area of Pune, highlighting the alarming insecurity faced by vulnerable individuals in society. A 65-year-old man has been charged with the sexual assault and brutal murder of a four-year-old girl, allegedly ending her life by crushing her with a stone.
The brutality of this crime, committed against a defenseless child, has ignited widespread outrage.
In Nasrapur, furious locals have blocked the Pune-Bengaluru Highway, demanding immediate and severe justice, despite the suspect being in police custody.
The tragedy came to light when the girl was reported missing in the afternoon, prompting her family to search desperately for her. Tragically, her mutilated body was later found.
CCTV footage reportedly captured the accused, an elderly man, leading the child away, which aided the police in his identification and arrest.
The horrific nature of this crime has led to a significant outpouring of anger from the community. On Friday evening, as the child's body was brought near the local police station, emotional scenes erupted, with family members in tears and villagers gathering to demand justice.
A local social activist expressed solidarity with the grieving community, stating, “While we function within a legal framework, the persistent delays in fast-track courts have eroded public confidence. When justice is postponed for years, the deterrent effect diminishes, perpetuating the cycle of violence.”
Sandip Singh Gill, Superintendent of Pune Rural Police, assured that a chargesheet would be filed within 15 days and that the case would be expedited in a fast-track court. He promised strict action in response to the protests.
The accused remains in custody as the investigation continues.
This incident is part of a troubling trend; just days earlier, on April 30, a 38-year-old man was arrested in Greater Noida for allegedly strangling his 14-year-old stepdaughter and disposing of her body in a forest, with preliminary investigations indicating a history of sexual assault.
