Shocking Case of Forced Conversion and Abuse in Ghaziabad
Disturbing Incident in Ghaziabad
A harrowing case has emerged from the Loni area of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, where a BBA student from Indore was allegedly subjected to forced conversion, coerced marriage, and repeated abuse for 14 years. The police have apprehended the main suspect involved in this case.
A Nightmare Similar to 'The Kerala Story'
This incident, now referred to as the 'UP Story', mirrors the horrors depicted in 'The Kerala Story'. The victim claims that for the past 14 years, she has been forced to live a life akin to hell by an organized gang. She was brought from Indore and kept captive in various districts of Uttar Pradesh and madrasas in Rajasthan, where she endured both physical and mental exploitation.
Betrayed Through a Facebook Friendship
The ordeal began in 2012 when the victim met a young man named Naveen Rana on Facebook. Their friendship blossomed into love, leading to discussions of marriage. Naveen traveled to Indore to meet her and lured her to Delhi under the pretense of marriage. Following his instructions, she left her phone at home and began using one provided by him. Naveen sent his friend Wasim to pick her up, who took her to Hazrat Nizamuddin, where he left her alone with Naveen, whose real name was revealed to be Nawed.
Captivity and Forced Conversion in a Madrasa
Instead of taking her home, Nawed allegedly took her to a madrasa in Muzaffarnagar, which was always locked. When she protested, Nawed disclosed his true identity as a Muslim and insisted that she must convert to Islam before they could marry. She was given a book in Hindi detailing how to perform prayers, and she was told that food would not be provided unless she complied.
Torture in Meerut and Forced Non-Vegetarianism
After Muzaffarnagar, she was taken to a madrasa in Meerut, where the real torment began. She was forced to wake up at 4 AM for prayers and Quran recitation. Coming from a Brahmin family, she had never consumed non-vegetarian food, yet she was compelled to eat it for dinner. Other Hindu girls were also present but were kept isolated from each other.
Cycle of Marriage, Divorce, and Halala
The victim's life was treated as a commodity. Initially, she was married off to an older man named Abdul Rahman, who subjected her to physical and mental abuse. When she attempted to escape, she was confined to a madrasa in Jaipur. In mid-2014, Abdul Rahman divorced her over the phone, after which she underwent Halala in Jaipur and was married to Mudassir Pathan. Following Mudassir's death in Gujarat, she was left destitute once again.
Allegations Against Khalid in Loni
In 2021, Khalid Hussain from Loni married her under the guise of being single, facilitated by the Jamaat-e-Ulema-e-Hind. It was later discovered that Khalid was already married. When she objected, he divorced her in 2022. As she sought police help, Khalid's family intervened, claiming that everything would be resolved after Halala. Allegations suggest that Khalid forced her into Halala with his brother-in-law.
Legal Action Taken at Ankur Vihar Police Station
After enduring years of abuse and wandering from place to place, the victim's complaint led to a case being registered at the Ankur Vihar police station in Loni. ACP Siddharth Gautam confirmed that the main accused, Khalid Hussain, has been arrested on charges of rape, threats to life, and other serious offenses. The police are now searching for other members of the gang involved in this conspiracy.
