Shocking Case of Dowry Harassment and Abuse in Agra

Alarming Allegations of Abuse

A disturbing case has emerged from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, involving allegations of dowry harassment, sexual exploitation, and coercion to engage in relations with another man. The victim's father has filed a complaint against his son-in-law and in-laws just seven months after the marriage. The investigation into this matter is currently ongoing.

Details of the Case

The incident took place in the Kamla Nagar area. According to the victim's father, his daughter was married in November 2024, with expenses totaling around 1.5 crore rupees, which included gold jewelry, 40 lakh rupees in cash, a car, and furniture. However, shortly after the wedding, the in-laws began demanding an additional dowry of 2 crore rupees. When this demand was not met, the victim faced both physical and mental abuse.

Threats and Coercion

The victim claims that her husband brutally beat her with a stick and subjected her to unnatural acts. Alarmingly, he had installed a hidden camera in their bedroom, capturing inappropriate videos of her. He allegedly blackmailed her with these videos, threatening to make them public. When she confided in her in-laws, they too began to threaten her.

Further Violations

The victim recounted an incident where her husband took her to a house where another man was already present. He pressured her to engage with this man, who also threatened her. After managing to escape, she returned home only to be raped by her father-in-law. When she reported this to her husband, he allegedly attempted to strangle her. The next day, she managed to reach her parental home and shared her ordeal with her family. ACP Piyush Kant Rai confirmed that a case has been registered and further investigations are underway.
