Teacher in Odisha Taken into Custody for Alleged Assault

In Kendrapara, Odisha, a 47-year-old primary school teacher has been detained following allegations of sexually assaulting a widow, as confirmed by local police on Sunday.

The teacher, employed at a government school in Raigada village, was taken into custody on Saturday, according to a senior police official.

The victim, a 39-year-old woman, lodged a complaint at the local police station, claiming that the assault occurred at a lodge in Paradip port town.

Both the teacher and the victim underwent medical examinations at the district headquarters hospital in Kendrapara, the officer reported.

Following the medical findings, the teacher was arrested, and a case was filed against him under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

After a local court denied his bail request, the accused was placed in jail custody, the police officer added.
