Arrest Made in Mysterious Honeymoon Death

Ghazipur: In a shocking development regarding the death of Raja Raghuvanshi from Indore during his honeymoon in Meghalaya, authorities have arrested his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, on charges of orchestrating his murder through hired assassins.

The Meghalaya Police reported that Sonam was located in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, where she voluntarily surrendered at the Nandganj police station.

Officials revealed that one suspect was detained in Uttar Pradesh, while two others were captured in Indore by the Special Investigation Team (SIT). Sonam's surrender led to her arrest, with one additional suspect still at large.

Meghalaya's Director General of Police, Idashisha Nongrang, confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and the arrested individuals are being interrogated for more information.

Meghalaya's Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma, acknowledged the significant progress in the case, stating on X, "A major breakthrough has been achieved by the Meghalaya Police in the Raja murder case within just seven days... three assailants from Madhya Pradesh have been arrested, and one more is still being pursued."

Raja and Sonam had traveled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon and were reported missing on May 23 while exploring the area.

Raja's body was discovered ten days later in a gorge beneath the Weisawdong Parking Lot at Riat Arliang, with a machete believed to be the murder weapon found nearby.

Sonam was also missing at the time, prompting a multi-state search effort.

As the investigation progressed, both families expressed serious concerns about the handling of the case, calling for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry due to perceived negligence by local authorities.

They highlighted CCTV footage and GPS data from a scooter that indicated the presence of several individuals with the couple, which they claimed was not adequately investigated by local police.

Madhya Pradesh's Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav, also urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to initiate a CBI inquiry to ensure justice is served.
