Bengaluru Badminton Coach Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault

Bengaluru: Authorities have taken a badminton coach into custody following allegations of raping a 16-year-old student under his tutelage, as reported by local police on Monday.

The incident came to light when the girl's grandmother discovered that the minor had sent explicit images from her phone to an unidentified recipient, prompting her to inform the girl's parents.

Upon questioning by her mother, the girl disclosed that the coach had repeatedly assaulted her, claiming it was part of extra training sessions, and had threatened her against revealing the abuse.

According to the police report, the victim's mother stated that her daughter had been receiving badminton coaching at a local sports facility for the past two years. The coach allegedly harassed and assaulted her on several occasions, even taking her to his residence for these acts.

After completing her class 10 examinations, the girl visited her grandmother's home, where on March 30, she sent nude photos to the coach at his request using her grandmother's mobile device, as per the complaint.

Following the complaint, a case was filed against the coach, who hails from Tamil Nadu, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He was apprehended on Thursday, according to a senior police official.

During questioning, the suspect admitted to the sexual abuse and acknowledged possessing nude images of the girl, which were found on his phone. Additionally, other explicit images of different girls were also discovered on his device.
