Shocking Allegations: Police Constable Accused of Two-Year Sexual Exploitation of Minor in Yadgir

Bengaluru: A troubling incident has emerged from Yadgir district, where a minor girl has accused a police Constable of sexual exploitation spanning two years, leading her to file a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on Wednesday.

The allegations surfaced near the Sydapura police station in Gurumathkal Taluk, where the victim reported her claims at the Yadgir Women’s Police Station.

As per police reports, the accused Constable, who was stationed at Sydapura, allegedly initiated contact with the girl when she was just 16, professing his love and subsequently exploiting her sexually over the next two years. He had promised to marry her, which further complicated the situation.

In her statement, the victim revealed that upon discovering her pregnancy, the Constable provided her with pills to terminate it. After she turned 18 in December 2024, he married her at the Sub-Registrar’s office.

However, the Constable's family rejected her as their daughter-in-law, leading him to abandon her and deny any relationship.

Now, the victim and her family have approached the Yadgir Women’s Police Station, seeking justice and formally filing a POCSO case against the Constable.

This incident is reminiscent of a previous case in 2021, where a police Constable in Mangaluru was arrested for raping a minor under the pretense of marriage. He was subsequently dismissed from service.

Additionally, a Sub-Inspector was recently implicated for mistreating his wife over dowry and exploiting women who sought help at the police station in Chikkamagaluru district, with the case coming to light in January 2025.

The complainant alleged that her husband targeted women visiting him for complaints or passport verification, coercing them into sexual favors in exchange for assistance.
