Shocking Administrative Error: 444 Women Declared Dead in Government Records

Bizarre Incident in Raha

Raha, June 2: In an astonishing administrative blunder, 444 women who are beneficiaries of the Chief Minister’s Women Entrepreneurship Scheme were informed that they had been mistakenly declared deceased in official records.

This unusual situation emerged in the Dakhinpat panchayat, located within the Pakhimoria Development Block of the Raha constituency, during a routine verification process for scheme beneficiaries.

The affected women, hailing from the villages of Borzoha, Mohmoria, and Krishnaikhat, are part of 41 self-help groups associated with three rural organizations.

They were left in disbelief when officials from the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) revealed that their names were recorded as either deceased or non-existent in the records maintained by the Pakhimoria Block office.

The Block office further clarified that the Gaon Pradhan of their respective villages had categorized them under the 'no more' section.

In response to this shocking revelation, the women organized a protest on Saturday outside the residence of Hareswar Das, the Gaon Pradhan, demanding accountability and swift rectification of the records.

During the protest, they raised slogans calling for action against Das and emphasized the seriousness of this oversight.

Eventually, Das acknowledged the error and promised the women that the issue would be addressed in collaboration with the appropriate government authorities.

This incident has sparked significant concerns regarding administrative diligence and the accountability of government officials, leading to calls for disciplinary measures against those responsible.
