Delhi News: A joyous mehndi ceremony turned tragic when a bride-to-be, aged 21, was attacked during the festivities. The atmosphere was filled with music and dancing as henna was being applied to the bride's hands. However, the celebration took a dark turn when the groom's girlfriend unexpectedly arrived at the event. Unbeknownst to the guests, she was a neighbor of the groom. In a shocking act, she threw acid on the bride during the ceremony.

The bride was left writhing in pain, leading to chaos at the venue. She was rushed to the hospital, where her condition remains critical. The acid caused severe burns to her eyes, face, neck, and hands. Medical treatment is currently being administered at Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital. The victim was at her home in Indira Vihar around 12:30 PM when the mehndi ceremony was taking place. The groom's girlfriend entered the function and, before anyone could react, she threw acid on the bride. The family was initially confused about what had just occurred.

The Attacker's Actions

According to police sources, both women were conversing normally before the incident. They even discussed the application of mehndi. Suddenly, the situation escalated when the groom's girlfriend opened a bottle containing acid and threw it at the bride's face. Not satisfied with just that, she attempted to further assault the bride with another object.

Response and Investigation

The family members rushed to assist the screaming bride, while some managed to apprehend the 26-year-old attacker and called the police. The injured bride was taken to the hospital immediately and is currently under medical supervision.

Initial investigations revealed that both women were neighbors. The manner in which the attacker concealed the acid and infiltrated the event suggests that this was a premeditated act. Reports indicate that the attacker has been in a relationship with the groom for the past five years. She has been arrested and presented in local court, where she was remanded to judicial custody.
