Significant Meeting Scheduled for Shiv Sena

Amid ongoing intense internal conflicts within Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), a pivotal meeting of the party's parliamentary group is set to take place today (Thursday) in New Delhi. Scheduled for 11 AM at the party office located in the Parliament complex, this gathering will play a crucial role in determining whether Uddhav Thackeray can maintain his parliamentary strength or face another significant split. On Wednesday, the party leadership issued a strict whip, mandating all MPs to attend this meeting.

This meeting comes in light of rising speculations that some rebel MPs from Shiv Sena (UBT) are planning to form a separate faction in the Lok Sabha and subsequently merge with the faction led by Eknath Shinde. The Shiv Sena (UBT), under the leadership of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, has called this meeting to discuss critical issues and to prepare legal proceedings for disqualification against the rebel MPs.

The meeting will take place at 11 AM in the party office within the Parliament complex. Currently, Shiv Sena (UBT) has nine members in the Lok Sabha, and forming a separate faction would require at least two-thirds of the MPs.

Anil Desai, Rajabhau Waje, and Arvind Sawant are aligned with Uddhav's faction, while the remaining six MPs—Sanjay Patil, Sanjay Deshmukh, Omprakash Raj Nimbalkar, Bhausaheb Wakchoure, Nagesh Patil-Aashtikar, and Sanjay Jadhav—are part of the opposing group. If any rebel MP attends this meeting, the faction may lose its recognition as a separate party.

MP Arvind Sawant has urged Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla not to recognize any 'rebel' faction claiming to represent the party. Sources indicate that amidst this escalating crisis, a group of rebel leaders from Shiv Sena (UBT) informally met with Speaker Birla on Wednesday, claiming support from six of the nine MPs in the Lok Sabha.

This crucial meeting scheduled for Thursday will determine both the legal and political future of Uddhav Thackeray's parliamentary strength, potentially leading to the third major split in the party since Raj Thackeray's departure in 2006.
