Shiv Sena Issues Notices to MPs for Missing Key Meeting Amid Defections Speculation
Shiv Sena Takes Action Against Absent MPs
On Thursday, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) issued show-cause notices to its Members of Parliament (MPs) who failed to attend an important parliamentary meeting. This decision comes amid rumors that some MPs from the party may defect back to the original Shiv Sena. Anil Desai, a party MP, stated during a press conference that disciplinary measures have been initiated against those who were absent, and all non-attending MPs have been asked to explain their absence.
Desai mentioned that the notices were dispatched on the same day as the meeting concluded. When questioned about the nature of the actions against the absent MPs, he clarified that the primary action is the issuance of these notices. Each absent member will be asked to provide a reason for their non-attendance. Emphasizing the party's commitment to accountability, Desai confirmed, "Yes, notices will be sent to everyone." He elaborated that the questions posed to the absent MPs would include inquiries about prior notifications they received, including messages and WhatsApp communications, and why they did not confirm their attendance.
Meanwhile, after the meeting, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Rajabhau Parag Prakash Waje reported that six MPs were not present. The meeting took place at the party's parliamentary office in Delhi amid speculation about potential defections under Operation Tiger. Senior leader Sanjay Raut warned that MPs who do not attend meetings would be labeled as "traitors."
The meeting included prominent party figures such as Sanjay Raut, Arvind Sawant, Anil Desai, Sanjay Jadhav, Omprakash Rajenimbalkar, Bhau Saheb Wakchoure, Sanjay Dina Patil, Sanjay Deshmukh, Nagesh Patil Ashtikar, and Rajabhau Waje, all nine Shiv Sena (UBT) Lok Sabha MPs were present. Prior to the meeting, Raut expressed a stern stance on attendance, stating, "Those who come are ours; those who do not are dishonest traitors."
