In a decisive action against drug trafficking, the Shimla Police have successfully dismantled a sophisticated narcotics operation in the area, apprehending local dealers along with a primary supplier from Punjab, effectively disrupting the entire distribution network.
The investigation began on January 8, 2026, when law enforcement set up a checkpoint at the Theog bypass as part of enhanced anti-drug measures. During a routine inspection, four suspects were stopped and thoroughly searched, leading to the seizure of 10 grams of heroin.
The individuals taken into custody were identified as Aman Verma (37), Sanjeev Kumar (35), Rohit Kumar (33), and Nikhil (33), all hailing from Theog.
Following their arrest, police conducted extensive interrogations and utilized technical evidence to trace the narcotics' origin. The investigation uncovered that the drugs were sourced from Punjab, highlighting the existence of an interstate trafficking operation.
In a swift response, a police team executed a raid in Fazilka district, Punjab, capturing the alleged mastermind, Sunny Rathore (48), a resident of Abohar. Authorities believe Rathore played a pivotal role in supplying drugs to local distributors in Himachal Pradesh.
Officials hailed the operation as a major victory in their relentless fight against drug trafficking. They reaffirmed their commitment to a zero-tolerance stance and warned that stringent measures would be enforced against anyone involved in the illegal drug trade.
This operation serves as a stern warning to traffickers, with authorities pledging to maintain their efforts to combat the drug crisis and safeguard the youth from substance abuse.
