Pakistan Prime Minister's Diplomatic Mission to China
Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, is set to embark on a visit to China from May 23 to 26, where he will engage in discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. This visit comes as a result of an invitation extended by Premier Li Qiang, as announced by Guo Jiakun, the spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, during a media briefing in Beijing. Guo characterized this visit as a pivotal diplomatic occasion for both nations, highlighting the close coordination between China and Pakistan on significant regional and international issues, aimed at safeguarding mutual interests.
Guo Jiakun stated, “Both nations have maintained effective communication and collaboration on key international and regional matters, successfully protecting their shared interests while promoting peace, stability, and development in the region.” The Chinese Foreign Ministry expressed hopes that this trip would further enhance the longstanding friendly relations and cooperation across various sectors between the two countries.
Moreover, President Xi Jinping extended his congratulations to Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari on the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan. According to Xinhua, Xi emphasized that the two nations are “good friends and all-weather strategic cooperative partners, connected by mountains and rivers and sharing both joys and challenges.” He noted that the friendship has remained “rock-solid and unbreakable” since the establishment of diplomatic ties 75 years ago.
President Xi also acknowledged the extensive cooperation between the two countries in various domains, including political trust, security, practical collaboration, and international coordination, which he described as a “model” for both nations. He expressed his commitment to enhancing China-Pakistan relations and working with President Asif Ali Zardari to leverage the 75th anniversary to strengthen strategic dialogue, broaden cooperation in diverse fields, and deepen the partnership between China and Pakistan.
