Shatrughan Sinha Reaffirms Support for Mamata Banerjee Amid Party Turmoil
Sinha's Strong Stance on TMC Leadership
Shatrughan Sinha, the Lok Sabha MP from Asansol, has made his position clear regarding his support for Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress (TMC). He expressed unwavering loyalty to Banerjee and criticized those who have left the party. Sinha stated, "I was with Didi, I am with Didi, and I will always be with Didi. Neither Abhishek Banerjee nor anyone else is my leader; my only leader is Mamata Banerjee. This is a time to show unity and stand by her, not to abandon her. Mamata Banerjee is a mature and experienced leader."
Commitment to TMC
Sinha emphasized that his support for Mamata Banerjee is steadfast. He remarked, "I was with her, and I will continue to be. Mamata Ji supported me during my tough times, so how could I leave her in her difficult moments?" He firmly rejected any association with rebel factions within the TMC, asserting, "I am not part of any rebel group, nor have I ever been, and I will not join one. Currently, I am not joining any other party. I feel disheartened to see people leaving Mamata Banerjee like this."
Political Context
Sinha's remarks came after his name appeared on a list of alleged rebel MPs circulating online. A former central minister, he was previously associated with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and served as a cabinet minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. Before joining TMC, Sinha was also a member of the Congress party. He congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 12 years in office through a post on social media, wishing him a long and prosperous life.
Personal Reflections
In his post, Sinha expressed, "Congratulations to our friend and guide, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on completing 12 years in office. This is perhaps the longest tenure so far. I wish you a long, healthy, and prosperous life. Jai Hind!" He reiterated his commitment to stand by Mamata Banerjee, recalling how she supported him during his loss in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections when very few stood by him.
