Shashi Tharoor Supports Digvijaya Singh Amid Ongoing Congress Controversy
Ongoing Controversy in Congress
The controversy sparked by Congress leader Digvijaya Singh's praise for the RSS continues to escalate. Recently, another prominent party figure and MP, Shashi Tharoor, has come forward to back Singh. Tharoor not only defended Singh but also emphasized the necessity for significant reforms within the Congress party.
Strengthening the Organization is Essential
During a media interaction on the occasion of Congress's 140th foundation day, Tharoor remarked that discussions between him and Singh are natural due to their friendship. He endorsed Singh's call for strengthening the party at the grassroots level.
Tharoor stated, 'There is no doubt that the organization needs to be fortified. We have a glorious history of 140 years, and there is much we can learn from it.' He also pointed out the lack of discipline within the party, asserting that logic and discipline are crucial for any institution.
Understanding the Controversy
The entire issue began when Digvijaya Singh shared an old photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi sitting on the ground next to Lal Krishna Advani on social media. Through this post, Singh conveyed that even a common worker in the BJP-RSS can rise to the position of Prime Minister.
However, Singh later clarified that he opposes the RSS ideology, yet his statement has ignited a fresh debate within Congress. Leaders like Kharge, Pawan Khera, and Supriya Shrinate have expressed disagreement with Singh's views, while Tharoor and Salman Khurshid regard his analysis as a lesson for the organization.
