Sharath Kamal Advocates for Fitness and Drug-Free Youth at Surat Cycling Event
Highlighting the Fit India Movement
At a recent 'Sundays on Cycle' event held in Surat, former Indian table tennis champion and Vice Chairperson of the International Olympiad Academy, Sharath Kamal, underscored the significance of the Fit India Movement in enhancing both physical and mental health, particularly among the youth. The event, which marked the 89th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle, prominently featured the theme 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat'. Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Gujarat's Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi participated in the cycling initiative.
Advocating for a Healthier Future
In an interview, Sharath Kamal expressed that the Fit India Movement plays a crucial role in fostering well-being among young individuals. He praised the 'Sundays on Cycle' initiative for merging fitness with the goal of promoting a drug-free society as India aspires towards 'Viksit Bharat'. He stated, "The Fit India Movement is a progressive initiative aimed at keeping our youth physically and mentally fit. Many challenges arise from a lack of physical activity, and mental health is critical. Through the Fit India Mission, we are tackling these challenges. Over the past 1.5 years, our 'Sunday on Cycles' events have not only focused on cycling five kilometers but also on spreading the message of physical fitness and drug-free living as we aim for a developed India."
Addressing Sedentary Lifestyles
Fit India Brand Ambassador Afreen Jasani also highlighted the importance of raising awareness about the dangers of junk food and inactive lifestyles. She noted that participating in cycling events can help individuals realize the advantages of an active lifestyle and inspire significant changes. "Today's lifestyle often revolves around junk food and inactivity, making awareness crucial. Events like today's cycling initiative allow participants to experience the benefits firsthand, which can lead to real transformation," she remarked.
