Pawar's Call for National Unity

Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party, emphasized the need for national unity in response to the pressure tactics employed by U.S. President Donald Trump, particularly regarding tariffs on Indian goods. Speaking at a press conference in Nagpur, he stated, 'Imposing a 50% tariff on Indian products is a strategy to exert pressure. We must support our government in safeguarding the interests of our nation.'

Concerns Over Foreign Policy

The former Union Minister refrained from speculating on whether the Modi government's foreign policy has failed. He remarked, 'We have witnessed Trump's approach during his first term as president. It seems he is not under anyone's control; he speaks impulsively based on his feelings.'

Warning Signs in Neighboring Relations

Pawar cautioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi against ignoring the growing rifts between India and its neighboring countries. He pointed out, 'We cannot overlook our attitude towards neighboring nations. Currently, Pakistan is opposed to us, and countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives are not pleased with us.'

Focus on Improving Relations

The NCP leader expressed concern that our neighbors are distancing themselves from India. He urged Modi to pay attention to this issue and prioritize improving diplomatic relations.
